Cats In The Basement DIY Performance Art Party Sarasota, Florida Curated by multi- instrumental conceptual artist Greg Ferris. Ferris was discovered playing xylophone for The Equines in Florida by Neil Fridd of The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt! (Luaka Bop) who brought him to play as a touring member across the US including New Belgium's Tour de Fat Festivals in Portland and Seattle, SXSW and The Hangout Fest (with Halifax's Rich Aucoin.) He performed on bills with The Flaming Lips, The Black Keys, Paul Simon, Cee-Lo Green, Big Boi, indie supergroup Mister Heavenly and many more sine 2010. Live audiences are led through cue-card sing- a-longs, party accoutrements and costume changes while a rotating cast of featured artists interact with the crowd. Dancing ensues and there's a glow-in-the-dark-strobing head on a stick.
Chris Jenkins Saturday, August 6 at 3 Monkey Studios & Gallery Chris Jenkins is an acoustic singer/songwriter who features well-crafted songs, compelling vocals, and an irresistable performance. His original songs continue to enthrall audiences of all ages. From coffeehouses to pubs, restaurants to festivals, Chris has brought his music to many throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Chris has fronted many a band over the last fifteen years, each time filling the role as frontman and songwriter. For the last few years he has decided to venture out on his own. By having his guitar and his harmonica as his only traveling companions he has been able to bring his sound to life in his own unique way. In 2009, Chris produced and released his first solo recording, a self-titled album containing ten of Chris's original, soulful tunes. Chris's lyrics are brought to life in his own voice accompanied simply by the rich chorus he is able to stir out of his guitar and harmonica. Chris's second acoustic album "Trying to Hitchike Back to Bed" was released in January 2011 featuring more of the thought provoking songs and melodies we've grown to love and expect from Chris.
Not Broken Yet Heavy Folk St. Petersburg, Florida Formed from the open mic nights at Hideaway Cafe in St. Petersburg, Florida, Not Broken Yet consists of Paul Cataldo and L.A. Moore on acoustic and electric guitars and John Stone on bass. They play their own unique style of "Heavy Folk" where tales of love, loss, redemption and revenge are featured themes.
Pal Joey Olivo Classic Vocals Palm Harbor, Florida This New Jersey native, like "Ol' Blue Eyes" himself, was interested in performing since childhood, but like a lot of people his dream of entertaining for a living was side tracked. So he decided to do what would make him happy. Born of Italian descent, Pal Joey grew up exposed to all genres of music, especially the style of Sinatra, so he started singing his songs. Since he was going to sing Sinatra songs he adopted a name to match, so from Sinatra`s movie "Pal Joey" came "Pal Joey" Olivo. "Pal Joey" Olivo has been performing for the past 10 years, Joey does the majority of his gigs for private venues. Joey does other genres of music however, his best and favorites are his renditions of "Ol` Blue Eyes" most popular songs.
